Heroin Rehab & Heroin Treatment

You can call it heroin, smack, H, black tar or horse…it all leads to the same thing for addicts and those that love them…loss of life.

Heroin Rehab
A heroin addict is both mentally and physically addicted to the heroin.  When a person uses a drug like heroin over a period of time they become dependent on it just to feel “normal.”  Heroin mirrors the neuro-chemical endorphins in the brain, the endorphins are the body’s natural pain relievers.

One of the reasons heroin addicts keep going back to the drug is that after a few hours without it they start to experience symptoms of withdraw.  These symptoms include nausea, diarrhea, body aches and pains, hot /cold sweats, they basically feel like they have been run over by an 18-wheeler.   The experienced addict knows that all they need to stop the “sickness or the kick” is another fix, another dose of heroin. This fear of withdrawl is the single greatest barrier to a heroin addict entering a heroin rehab. Many addicts require drug intervention & drug detox to get through this phace of recovery.

Heroin addicts, often referred to as junkies, use the drug in various ways, the most common ways to ingest heroin is by snorting it, by smoking the heroin or by injecting the heroin directly into their veins.  All forms of ingestion can cause overdose.

Heroin Rehab
Overdose, which can eventually lead to death, is not uncommon with heroin addicts.  One of the reasons overdose occurs is because addicts buy this drug off of the street and the potency of the drug varies from dealer to dealer.  If an addict uses $20 of heroin today and it is not pure dope he/she may not overdose.  The same $20 of heroin that is more pure can cause a person to overdose.
